Port Vale manager Andy Porter was loving the way a plan came together after his side stunned Bolton Wanderers with a 3-2 win in the Fourth Round of The FA Youth Cup at the Reebok Stadium.

The juniors from the League One side even fell behind to Tope Obadeyi's ninth minute stike, before pulling themselves level before half-time thanks to Danny Glover's sweet lob.

Jamie Elwell then put Vale ahead with a far post header, only for Bolton to send the game into extra-time when Obadeyi netted his second.

However, the visitors were determined not be denied and Jonathan Crompton was the hero with a cool finish from the penalty spot after Luke Chapman had been tripped in the box.

"It was a great result away from home and the lads got at them well as a part of the game plan," Porter said.

"The weather didn’t help as it was snowing throughout the game, but it was a good team performance.

"We’ve got the fourth round before but always got knocked out, so we’ll be happy to play anyone in the fifth round."

Elsewhere in FA Youth Cup Fourth Round action, Tottenham claimed a 2-1 win over Chester at White Hart Lane despite falling behind on the half-hour. Goals from Danny Rose and David Hutton, with a penalty, saw the Londoners through.

Leicester also booked their place in the fifth round, although they needed extra time before clinching a 3-2 victory at home to Crystal Palace.
