FA Youth Cup sponsored by E.ON Season 2006-07 First Round QualifyingTies to be played in week commencing Monday 25 September 2006

Paul Day-Haynes' very young Hanwell side can take a lot of credit for holding Dunstable to a single goal defeat in last night's FA Youth Cup tie. With two 15-year-olds in their starting line-up and several others who will still be eligible to play in next season's competition, Hanwell will have gained much from this match.
The visitors from Bedfordshire moved the ball around more quickly and clearly deserved to progress. Ryan Quinn's close-range effort on 25 minutes won the tie and it was only an outstanding performance by Hanwell 'keeper Simeon Charles that prevented a significantly bigger margin of victory.
Dunstable's slick passing in midfield had Hanwell in a spin in the first ten minutes. Then, somewhat against the run of play, the home side created two presentable chances. A left-wing corner speared into the near-post area was almost turned into the net by Ashley O'Halloran and they came even closer when Lee McManus, a first-team player this season at 16, glanced a header against Nick Gardner's left-hand post. Yes, he probably had it covered.
Ashton Campbell, Dunstable's centre-forward, was leading the line with pace and guile and it only seemed a matter of time before he opened his side's account. But the goal came from another source, Charles beaten by Quinn after blocking an initial shot with his outstretched leg on the line. Dunstable looked likely to increase their lead but Tom Inch and Matthew Lukeman kept Hanwell in the picture with some surging runs through midfield.
Dunstable turned the screw even more in the second half but their best effort - a Campbell blast after an electrifying run past three defenders down the left - brought a flying two-handed save from Charles. They will now visit Potters Bar Town in the Second Round Qualifying in the week beginning 9 October.
Hastings were victorious at the Pilot Field on Wednesday night. With the score tied 2-2 after 90 minutes, Hastings scored five times in extra time to run out 7-3 winners against Burgess Hill. Hastings' scorers were Dean Phillips with two, Gregg Berry also with a brace, Matt McLean, Milton Miltiadou and Rob Usherwood.
After last week’s win against Eastbourne that makes it 12 goals in the last two home matches. Lowestoft Towns youngsters moved into the Second Qualifying Round with a hard fought victory at home to Huntingdon.
20-year-old Andy Reynolds, the Lowestoft Youth coach, picked a Cup Winners medal himself just 18 months ago when he was an unused substitute goalkeeper in both legs of Ipswich Town's victory over Southampton.
On Wednesday night it was another member of the Reynolds family who took the plaudits, younger brother Chris Reynolds gave the home side a 2-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes. However Bassett pulled the visitors back into the game with a great strike 4 minutes before half time.
The home side restored their two goal advantage through Dale Smith on 65 minutes. Substitute Gary Williams made it 4-1 as the Huntingdon keeper could only parry a vicious shot from Reece Hunn. Huntingdon managed to have the last word though as Kilpatrick made it 4 2 with barely 4 minutes to play.
Rugby Town also went through to the next round of The FA Youth Cup by beating Bromyard Town 7-0 at Butlin Road last night. Ben Clark opened the scoring for Rugby and David Kolodinski made it two with a spectacular overhead kick.
With thanks to Dean Batty, Shaun Cole and Dave Palmer for their fantastic contributions.
