There were goals by the bucketful in Wednesday night's 53 FA Youth Cup First Round Qualifying ties.
Hednesford Town and Rugby Town each scored 14 at home and there was a nine, two sevens and a 6-5 away win after extra-time for Broxbourne Borough V&E.
There were five penalty shootouts, one of which finished 9-8, and a couple of floodlight failures on a night when the country was lashed by wind and rain.
A special incentive for Cambridge City to win at North Greenford United was the prospect of a home tie against Cambridge United in the next round.
They overwhelmed the Middlesex side with a wave of attacks in the first few minutes and an inevitable goal came when Luke Baker adjusted his run into the box as a cross came in slightly behind him to send a glancing header high into the net on nine minutes.
City play at a higher level to North Greenford, with their respective first teams in the Conference South and Combined Counties League, but the home side enjoyed a good spell after the goal. Some excellent crosses on the run from the left-winger had the City defence at full stretch.
Then City asserted themselves once more, scoring twice inside three minutes near the half-hour mark to take an unassailable 3-0 lead - Phil Stebbings, who was a handful throughout, netted both.
With the rain coming down harder in the second half the visitors consolidated and there were no further goals.
Hednesford managed seven in each half in their tie with Newcastle Town at Keys Park. Craig Marshall led the way with an astonishing eight goals and there were three for Ross Dyer, two for substitute Greg Dickinson and one for Luke Gough.
Young striker Marshall has now chalked up 16 goals in five games for the Pitmen's youth side this season. In the next round they travel to the winners of tonight's tie between Moor Green and Hinckley United.
The FA Youth Cup's top score is thought to be the 23-0 by which Manchester United beat Nantwich in the 1950s.
