FA Youth Cup Fourth Round

United's first team will be hoping for a similar result this weekend in their Fourth Round FA Cup tie against West Ham.

The goals came from Ben Collett and Kieran Richardson and it was no more than the home side deserved as they carved out more chances than their Yorkshire rivals.

The United side featured England Under 19 striker Eddie Johnson and goalkeeper Luke Steele who had to be alert to keep out a first half 30-yard shot from Ross Greenwood.

United went ahead after 32 minutes when winger Collett unleashed a 25 yard shot which arrowed its way in to the top corner. United almost doubled their lead shortly afterwards when Johnson went close, eventually hitting the side netting.

Wednesday were given a glimmer of hope when, in the 82nd minute, Ben Collett was dismissed for a second bookable offence, but only four minutes later the result was sealed.

Kieran Richardson sent a rocket of a shot past Poulter in the Wednesday goal to put an end to the tie and secure his side's place in the last sixteen, after good work by Ramon Calliste.

The Reds now face more Steel City opposition - this time Sheffield United - in the fifth round, hoping to get their hands on the trophy that they last won in 1995.
