The FA Vase effectively replaced the old FA Amateur Cup in 1974, following the FA Council's decision to abolish the official distinction between 'amateur' and 'professional' footballers.
This season's Vase competition, the 34th in history, has now reached its Fourth Round Proper stage. Nine ties were resolved last weekend and there will be six rearranged matches, plus one replay, this coming Saturday.
Only two of the 23 clubs still involved in this season's competition - Truro City and Whitley Bay - have previously played in a Vase Final. Truro won last year's showpiece before a 27,000 crowd at the new Wembley and Whitley Bay were the 2002 winners at Villa Park.
Truro and Whitley Bay are now scheduled to meet at the former's Treyew Road ground in this season's Fifth Round on 9 February, so there is certain to be a new Finalist at Wembley in May.
Hungerford Town, drawn at home to Greenwich Borough in Round Five, have featured in three Vase semi-finals - in 1978, 1979 and 1989.
Camberley Town, away at Concord Rangers, reached the last eight in 1986 and Dunston Federation, who go to Lowestoft Town, matched that achievement seven years later.
