The FA Vase in partnership with Carlsberg Second Round Proper Saturday 19 November 2005 Winning clubs receive £1,000The 32nd FA Vase competition has reached its Second Round Proper stage, with the draw having been made at Soho Square this morning.
A massive 493 clubs had their entries accepted for this season's competition and the top echelon, including holders Didcot Town, now come in after being exempt until this round.
Hellenic League Didcot won a cracking Final 3-2 against AFC Sudbury before almost 9,000 fans at White Hart Lane in May and today's draw has given them a home tie against Kent League Herne Bay who were knocked out in the First Round Qualifying last time.
AFC Sudbury, who almost unbelievably have lost three Vase Finals in a row, have also been handed a home tie. The Eastern Counties League side will take on Romford from the Essex Senior League.
Two clubs who have starred in this season's FA Cup competition, Chasetown and Leamington, also line up in this round of The Vase. Both play in the Midland Alliance at Step 5 and both have fought their way through to The Cup's First Round Proper for the first time.
Chasetown's home tie with Oldham Athletic is BBC's live game on Sunday; in The Vase their more modest opposition at 'The Scholars' are Nantwich Town from the North West Counties League.
Leamington, another club facing Cup opposition six levels higher in Colchester United, must also travel in The Vase - to Midland Alliance Biddulph Victoria.
Hillingdon Borough, the Middlesex side who play in the Spartan South Midlands League, scored six in each of their first two Vase ties last season - and cracked in five at Erith & Belvedere in the First Round Proper at the weekend.
Now they go to Rye & Iden United, near Hastings, who are currently in the Sussex County League Division One's bottom three.
Ties in the Second Round Proper are due to be played on 19 November, with the 64 winners picking up £1,000 each.
