Didcot manager Stuart Peace saw his team lift The FA Vase on Saturday and was clearly overwhelmed with his side’s winning performance.
After a quiet first-half, his team came to life after the break when Stuart Beavon gave the Railwaymen the lead against favourites AFC Sudbury.
The 21-year-old then sealed victory in injury-time, after Shane Wardley's own goal had restored Didcot's one-goal advantage shortly after he had drawn the Suffolk side level with a lovely left-foot strike.
“I can’t quite believe it, it’s really a dream come true for us," said Peace when the dust had settled at White Hart Lane.
“Just getting to The Final was a great achievement, but to win it, well, it’s beyond our wildest dreams.
“I’d like to thank all the fans that turned out for us today, there was an amazing atmosphere in the stadium," he said.
Meanwhile, Sudbury manager Gary Harvey was sympathetic towards his side, that have now lost out on winning The FA Vase for the third consecutive year.
“It was a good game, but Didcot won fair and square.
“I just feel for all the boys. They should have been enjoying the day, relishing the occasion. On our day, we would have beaten them, but sadly it just wasn’t our day.”
