Tiverton Town reached the final of the prestigious non-league football competition three times in the 1990s, winning it twice in consecutive seasons.

The magnificent achievement is to be remembered at a reunion of the three squads that played at Wembley - and The FA Vase will be the guest of honour.

The club's first appearance in The FA Vase final in 1993 ended in disappointment when they lost 1-0 to Bridlington Town.

They made it back to Wembley in 1998, clinching the trophy for the first time with a 1-0 victory over Tow Law Town, and retained it the following season with a 1-0 win over Bedlington Terriers.

Among the players expected at the reunion in Tiverton Town's clubhouse on January 24 are Jason Smith, Mark Saunders, Steve Daly and Graham Walters.

Jason Smith: Now Swansea's skipperSwansea City captain Jason Smith played in the first final at the age of 17. He returned to Tiverton after a spell with Coventry City and played in the 1998 final before moving to Swansea.

Mark Saunders, who also played in the first final, is now plying his trade with Gillingham and will be away at Burnley in the Fourth Round Proper of The FA Cup on the day of the reunion, but is hoping to make it.

Steve Daly and Graham Walters are hoping for success in The FA Vase this season with St Blazey AFC. They are through to the Fourth Round Proper on January 17.

Whilst Steve featured in all three finals with Tiverton, Graham was on the winning side in 1998.

The reunion has been organised by manager Martyn Rogers, who guided the club to all three finals and played in the first.

He said: "The club has great affection for The FA Vase. Those three cup runs to the final set us up for promotion and for getting the ground up to scratch with the prize money we earned.

Martyn Rogers after the 1993 FInal"Everyone here has still got a soft spot for the competition, even though we haven't been in it since our last win in 1999 because we were promoted to The FA Trophy. It put the club on the map."

Those attending the reunion will be able to enjoy video highlights of the finals and supporters will have the chance to meet the past players and admire the trophy once more.

Two players are still with the club - Kevin Nancekivell, who started in the 1998 and 1999 finals, and Richard Pears, who came on as a sub in the last.

Martyn said: "It was an incredible feeling to walk out at Wembley each time, especially in front of crowds of more than 13,000 on the occasions we won. It was so satisfying to retain the trophy as that had only been done twice before.

"I can remember the finals as if they were yesterday and it will be great to relive those memories with the players and the supporters. Having The FA Vase there will definitely add to the occasion."

Limited tickets for the reunion, which starts at 7.30pm, will be available in advance from the club from tomorrow (Friday, January 9) priced £5 for members and £6 for non-members.
