The Nottinghamshire based club were recognised by Soho Square for their thumping 5-1 win over Fleetwood Town in the Second Qualifying Round earlier this month and club spokesperson, Jon Knight, commented: “It’s an honour for the club to win this award especially as it’s our first season competing in the FA Trophy.”

Retford, who are currently second in the league with two games in hand over leaders Cammell Liard, followed up the award presentation at their Cannon Park home with a comfortable 3-1 win over Radcliffe Borough to book a place in Round One proper of the FA Trophy.

The club can now look forward to an away tie against Conference side Histon on 15 December and Knight is enjoying their debut season in the FA Trophy: “The 5-1 win against Fleetwood at Cannon Park was certainly a highlight of our campaign so far.

“We have made plenty of new friends and plaudits, not only from Fleetwood, but in all the games over the last three rounds. The League remains our priority but the FA Trophy run is something of an extra bonus."
