FA Cup trailblazers Leatherhead were brought back down to earth in The FA Trophy as they went down 3-0 at home to Team Bath in a Second Qualifying Round clash.
The Tanners, who face Torquay United in the FA Cup First Round next weekend, had no answer to Sean Canham who grabbed a hat-trick to send the student team through.
But there was better news for fellow FA Cup First Round participants King's Lynn who beat Leyton 2-1.
The Norfolk side coped with the shock news that manager Tommy Taylor had left the club following speculation linking him with a job at Peterborough United to claim the win thanks to goals from Michael Frew and Steve Melton.
Waltham Forest manager Danny Honeyball was left to rue a poor first-half display that he felt contributed to his side's 2-1 home defeat to Cray Wanderers.
"We started really slowly and were 1-0 down at half-time," he explained. "Danny Gabriel got an equaliser for us after the break, but we were then beaten by a wonder strike from 25 yards.
"It is a disappointment to go out, but you have to play for 90 minutes, so we just have to concentrate on the league now."
Elsewhere in the Second Qualifying Round, Hemel Hempstead came out on top in a 12-goal thriller against Abingdon United, claiming an amazing 8-4 victory.
Hemel certainly have the taste for goal in The FA Trophy having won 4-2 in the previous round against Corby Town.
Skelmersdale United were also big winners after beating Kendal Town 4-2 at home, while AFC Wimbledon secured a place in the draw for the Third Round Qualifying with a 3-2 win over Tonbridge Angels.
Another high-scoring encounter came at Chippenham Town, but they will need a replay to decide their tie with Didcot Town after being held to a 3-3 draw.
Hampton & Richmond Borough missed a last minute penalty to rub salt in the wounds as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Windsor & Eton.
