Representatives from Albion Sports and Gossoms End were recently invited to Anfield for a tour of the Premiership stadium and to discuss arrangements for the final of the nation’s flagship Sunday League football competition to be played on Sunday, 24 April, kick-off at 3.00pm.

Albion Sports won the toss to occupy the home dressing room for the final.

The Bradford Sunday League side was formed in 1974, and is this year celebrating their 30th anniversary.

The club narrowly missed out in becoming FA Sunday Cup champions in 2000 when they lost out 1-0 in the final to Hull side Prestige Brighams.

Albion’s manager, Kully Sandhu attended the meeting along with Commercial Manager, Daljit Panesar, 2nd Team Manager, Jaj Chahal and Finance Director, Kultar Singh.

Kully enthused, "It’s been an unbelievable journey for us in the competition and Anfield is a great final destination

"The whole club is buzzing with excitement – we’re really looking forward to the match, I hope all our fans will get behind us - Gossoms End are a great side, it’ll be an exciting game."

Since Gossoms End FC was formed back in 1981 the club has enjoyed regular success. They have become the most successful club in history of the Berkhamsted Sunday League, winning eight championships, seven challenge cups and four senior clubs.

Phil Casserley, Manager of Gossoms End was joined by Club Secretary Roger Bateman, Chairman Roger Hendin, Captain Neil Spencer and Committee member Gary Rance.

Phil said, "We’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to play in the final and I’m very confident we will not let anybody down and put up a great performance.

"Coming to Anfield has really hit home how big this cup is, it’s such a great venue.

"We are facing a formidable team in Albion Sports who have reached the final in fine style."

At the meeting, The FA revealed that former Liverpool and England legend Phil Neal will be the Chief Guest at the final.

This is the third successive season that the final has been staged at Anfield. Liverpool side, Nicosia overcame Bristol outfit, UK Flooring 3-1 to lift The FA Sunday Cup in April last year.

Admission to the final will be £5 for adults and £1 for under 16’s and over 65. Tickets can be bought from the turnstiles on the day of the final from 2pm.

Supporters of both sides will be seated in the famous Kop Stand.

This is the third season that Carlsberg has been The FA’s presenting partner for The FA Sunday Cup, which forms an integral part of their support of football in this country.
