Phil Neal will be remembered as one of the most consistent right-backs Liverpool FC have ever had on its books.

The final, due to kick-off at 3pm will be between Bradford Sunday league side, Albion Sports and Berkhamsted side Gossoms End.

Phil said, "It will be the Sunday equivalent of The FA Cup final for these two teams.

"They both will have worked so hard to get to Anfield – I’m sure it’s going to be a very competitive game.

"It’s always fantastic to get to a final of any status, but to get to a final and for it to be at Anfield will be so memorable."

Neal arrived Liverpool FC as Bob Paisely’s first ever signing from Northampton Town for £66,000. He served the club for over ten years and won four European cup winning medals in his time.

Two of his most remembered goals came in European Cup finals. The first was a spot kick in the 1977 final which sealed the game up at 3-1 and the second was the toe-poked effort past the AS Roma keeper in the 1984 final.

After he left Liverpool, Neal went to Bolton for six years and then had managerial stints at Coventry City, Cardiff and Manchester City. Since then, he has been putting years of experience to use off the field as a TV and radio pundit.

Although he has no first-hand experience of the non-league game, he knows what it means to both clubs to be in such a prestigious cup final and is looking forward to being part of their big day.

He said, "It’s an honour to be chief guest at the final, I’m really looking forward to it – it’s a real bonus that it’s being held at Anfield, it’s a really special venue and I had lots of great times there.

"I’d like to wish both teams the best of luck and my advice would be to enjoy it and savour every minute.

"It’s important they don’t panic and try and play as normal. The team that can settle their nerves first will give themselves a good chance. They also need that little bit of luck because that can be the difference to a side wining and losing a cup final."

As The FA’s Chief Guest, Phil will be introduced to an official line-up of the teams before kick-off and will present the winners’ medals and, of course The FA Sunday Cup.

A Carlsberg Man of the Match Award will also be presented. Carlsberg’s Chief Guest will be Gareth Roberts, Sponsorship Controller for Carlsberg.

This is the third successive season that the final has been staged at Anfield. Liverpool side, Nicosia overcame Bristol outfit, UK Flooring 3-1 to lift The FA Sunday Cup in April last year.

Admission to the final will be £5 for adults and £1 for under 16’s and over 65. Tickets can be bought from the turnstiles on the day of the final from 2pm. Supporters of both sides will be seated in the famous Kop Stand.

This is the third season that Carlsberg has been The FA’s presenting partner for The FA Sunday Cup, which forms an integral part of their support of football in this country.

Carlsberg is also The FA’s partner for The FA Trophy and The FA Vase, highlighting their commitment to non-league and grassroots football.
