Liverpool Business Houses League side Nicosia booked their place in the semi-finals of the flagship Sunday League football competition with a 2-0 win over former winners Prestige Brighams, from the Hull Sunday League.

Nicosia, winners of The FA Sunday Cup in 1991, will now face their league rivals A3 (Canada) in what promises to be a thrilling tie.

At stake will be the chance to play at Liverpool FC in the ultimate stage of a competition that celebrates its 40th anniversary this season.

Meanwhile, St Margarets will be flying the flag for Northampton in the semi-finals having knocked out Ipswich Morning League side Capel Plough 1-0 in the other postponed quarter-final played yesterday.

The hopes of The FA Sunday Cup being retained by Northampton rest with St Margarets after holders Duke of York were beaten in their quarter-final by competition newcomers UK Flooring.

In their first season in the competition, UK Flooring have knocked out two ex-winners – Duke of York in the quarter-finals and St Joseph’s (Luton) in the Second Round – and former finalists, FC Houghton Centre, in the Third Round.

St Margarets returned to The FA Sunday Cup last season after a break from the competition, and got as far as the last eight.

The semi-finals will be played on Sunday, March 21, at neutral grounds within the proximity of the ‘home’ sides to be decided by The FA.

The Final will be played for the second consecutive season at Anfield - on Sunday, 25th April.
