Aaron Mokoena went from hero to zero after he followed his first ever goal for Blackburn Rovers with his first red card as 10 man Rovers beat Manchester City 2-0 and become the first team to book a place in the semi-finals of the The FA Cup.
The South African gave the home side the lead midway through the first half when he was on hand to thump into the net from close range before Matt Derbyshire added a second late on to seal the victory.
Stephen Warnock's cross from the left caused all sorts of problems in the City defence as they struggled to clear their lines and Mokoena’s left-foot shot found the corner of the net.
Fellow South African Benni McCarthy thought he had doubled the lead minutes later only to see the linesman raise his flag and rule him offside.
Despite their huge support City failed to take control of the match, their cause was also aided by having a man advantage with twenty minutes left in the game when Mokoena received his marching orders.
Having been cautioned in the first half, Mokoena saw red after he wrestled Bernardo Corradi to the floor.
A late tap-in from Derbyshire was the icing on the cake for manager and four time winner as a player Mark Hughes as he celebrated wildly on the touch line.
