Goalkeepers beware - Xabi Alonso is making a habit of scoring from the halfway line.

The Liverpool maestro followed up his stunning 60-yard effort against Luton in last season's FA Cup with another wonder goal on Wednesday night against Newcastle.

With the Toon Army's goal seemingly in little danger, the Spanish midfielder unloaded a bullet from 65 yards which completely bemused Newcastle keeper Steve Harper before nestling into the back of the net.

Two goals from within your own half is special, but to have done it with both feet - left foot against Luton and right foot against Newcastle - marks Alonso out as supremely gifted.
