Everton v Manchester United: Whiteside's winner

Norman Whiteside bends in a sweet effort past Neville Southall to give Manchester United a 1-0 extra-time FA Cup Final win.

One of the biggest fixtures of the opening day of the new season is Manchester United away to Everton.

However, that's still more than a month away so, by way of a football fix, and to get you in the mood for the opening day, we've raided our video vaults for one of the most famous goals ever scored in a Manchester United - Everton game.

It's Norman Whiteside's Cup Final pearler from 20 years ago.

The match finished 0-0 and going into extra time reduced to ten men, United were up against it and an Everton ‘Double’ seemed more than likely.

Then, with ten minutes left, Whiteside collected the ball on the right wing and curled in a superb curling shot from 20 yards to beat Everton keeper Neville Southall.

Sit back, click the links above and enjoy the goal. It's not long to go now...
