The FA has today confirmed that Mark Halsey will take charge of the 2007 FA Community Shield on Sunday 5 August at Wembley Stadium, between FA Cup winners Chelsea and Premier League champions Manchester United.
The Bolton-based official will be supported by Assistant Referees Darren Cann and Martin Yerby, with Chris Foy the Fourth Official.
Mark began Refereeing in 1989 in the Hertfordshire County League before gaining promotion to the Isthmian League in 1991.
Mark has refereed at Wembley once before, when on 30 May 1999 he was in charge of the epic Play-Off Final between Manchester City and Gillingham, when City came back from two goals down to eventually emerge victors 3-1 on penalties.
That same season Mark was promoted to the Select Group of Referees, and in 2000 he was elevated to the FIFA list.
Mark's biggest domestic honour up until his appointment for The FA Community Shield was acting as fourth official at the 2002 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium.
