Manchester United lifted The Community Shield for the second season in a row and for the 13th time in their history on Sunday, when they beat Portsmouth at Wembley.

With the game goalless after 90 minutes, the season's curtain-raiser was decided after a penalty shoot out with United edging The FA Cup winners out by 3-1.

Whlst both teams had opportunities to win the game in normal time, United had the lion's share of the possession and chances but Pompey's defending saw them keep the European and Premiership champions at bay.
