United, the League Champions, beat Queens Park Rangers, the Southern League Champions, 4-0 at Stamford Bridge after a 1-1 draw at the same ground.

The replay, watched by an estimated 10,000 spectators, was played on 29 August and kicked-off at 4.00 pm on a Saturday.United's winning team included English, Scottish and Welsh internationals. Outside-right BILLY MEREDITH was a legendary Welsh international with 48 caps. He made more than 300 appearances for United and played in an FA Cup Semi-Final for Man City when he was 49.

Inside-right JIMMY BANNISTER scored 21 goals in 45 League games for Man City before linking up with United. He later played for Preston North End.

Centre-forward ALEXANDER "SANDY" TURNBULL was a prolific marksman for both Manchester clubs - 90 goals for United and 53 for City. He lost his life in World War 1.
