First Half Action
0 mins Ryan Giggs passes to Wayne Rooney to kick off the 2007 FA Community Shield sponsored by McDonald’s. Manchester United attack the west end where the Chelsea fans sit.
15' Chelsea have the early edge on possession, but no chances as yet as the two sides size each other up on a boiling hot afternoon.
18' Ronaldo tries a couple of step-overs just inside Chelsea have, but stumbles, leaving the ball behind him.
21' Giggs is presented with the games first chance. Ronaldo broke down the left and lost control of the ball as he tried to go past Glen Johnson, but the ball bounced across the area to the unmarked Giggs, but Petr Cech made himself big to block the United winger's right-foot strike
22' Michael Carrick has a sight at goal 20-yards out, but his shot curled just wide of the post.
27' Chelsea come very close, Florent Malouda's inswinging cross from the right was flicked on by Michael Essien. John Obi Mikel flung himself at the ball at the far post but couldn't get the touch to take it in to the net.
30' United break down the right with Ronaldo and the Portuguese fires a low cross in front of Cech's goal, but it was too far in front of Mikael Silvestre sliding in.
31' Malouda tries a long-range, left foot effort on Edwin van der Sar, but it was easy for the Dutchman.
32' Patrice Evra has a go at the other end, but drags his shot well wide.
33' New Blue Tal Ben Haim body checks Wayne Rooney and picks up the games first booking.
34' Ronaldo's free-kick hits the wall
35' GOAL! United take the lead, scoring the first goal of the new season. Evra plays a one-two with Ronaldo on the left wing, and the Frenchman pulls the ball back from the bye-line for Ryan Giggs to sweep, left-footed, into the top corner from ten-yards.
40' Rooney doesn't quite manage to control Carrick clipped ball into the box.
45' GOAL! Florent Malouda levels matters with a fine finish. Collecting an Ashley Cole through ball into the left hand channel, the Blues new wingers goes past Rio Ferdinand, shrugging of the defender, before sneaking a shot with the outside of his left-foot past van der Sar and inside the post. Malouda stays down, with what looks like a dead-leg.
45'+2 Ben Haim, Cech and Rooney end up in a heap inside the box, Rooney gets booked.
Second Half Action
46' Shaun Wright-Phillips does well to keep a long pass in play with space in front of him on the right, but the cross into the box goes over van der Sar's goal.
49' Two quick chances fall to United. Evra again looked sharp on the left, squaring for Ronaldo inside the box. His dummy opens up space for a shot on goal, but Cech saves well. Giggs' follow up is blocked by Ben Haim.
52' Chelsea Substitution Goalscorer Malouda makes way for fellow new-boy Claudio Pizarro.
61' A United move is broken down by Chelsea and Pizarro carries the ball forward. He rolls it out wide to Joe Cole arriving on the left, but his delivery is indecisive, floating between the goal and Wright-Phillips.
63' Ricardo Carvalho collects a booking for a foul on Evra on the left flank. Ronaldo's free-kick is straight at Petr Cech.
67' Chelsea Substitution Ashley Cole is replaced by Lassana Diarra, Manchester United Substitution New signing Nani comes on for Mikael Silvestre.
70' Pizarro collects a pass from Mikel and opens up for the shot, but can't get the necessary swerve to take it on target.
78' Chelsea Substitution Another new Chelsea player joins the action as Steve Sidwell replaces Glen Johnson
81' Manchester United Substitution Ryan Giggs goes off for Darren Fletcher
82' Chelsea Substitution England U19 international Scott Sinclair comes on for England Senior Joe Cole
84' Ronaldo attacks in the Chelsea box, but Ben Haim and Cech close down his space and put out for a corner.
85' Rooney has a go as Chelsea clear the corner, but his shot flies over.
90'+1 Referee Mark Halsey shows the yellow card to John Obi Mikel for a foul on Ronaldo.
90'+2 Halsey blows the final whistle and with the scores level at 1-1 and no extra-time, the game will be decided on penalties.
