Chelsea and Arsenal players will respect a period of silence ahead of the FA Community Shield.
Wednesday, 03 August 2005.
The FA today announced that there will be a ‘period of silence’ immediately before The FA Community Shield between Arsenal and Chelsea.
Sunday’s fixture, between two London teams will be the first opportunity domestic football has had to pay its respect to all the victims of the recent London bombings.
The silence will also be an opportunity to offer a mark of respect to Anthony Walker, an Arsenal fan, who was killed on Merseyside last week.
