Reyes helped Arsenal to a 3-1 win over arch-rivals Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium to earn the north Londoners the first silverware of the season.

The Spaniard scored one and set one up for Gilberto and could have netted one of the best-ever goals in the traditional curtain-raiser but somehow missed the target having skipped round three United defenders and goalkeeper Tim Howard.

But Reyes, who moved to Highbury midway through last season from Seville, believes he is ready to make a massive impact on the Premier League in the forthcoming campaign.

"I always enjoy the game much more when my team wins, so that was the case again against Manchester United," he explained.

"It was frustrating at the time when I missed the chance, but soon after I set one up and then scored myself so I was much happier.

"Every day I feel more settled in the side and that is important for a player who moves abroad to a big club like Arsenal. It is good to feel good and be able to express yourself.

"I just want this club to do well, but if I am playing well at the same time and scoring goals in the Premiership then that is even better.

"I have been in England now for six or seven months and I feel better every day. It was good to come over from Spain in January because now I have played when it is cold and wet and I have got used to those conditions and English football in general."
