Juan Mata is backing holders Chelsea to beat Manchester United in their FA Cup Sixth Round Replay after helping his side come from two down to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford.

The inspirational Spaniard was man of the match as the Blues - who beat Liverpool at Wembley to lift The Cup last year - produced an incredible comeback.

They looked to be in serious trouble at half-time thanks to goals from Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney, but were a different prospect after the break, especially when manager Rafa Benitez brought on Eden Hazard and John Obi Mikel in a double substitution.

It was Hazard who made it 2-1 with a superb curling shot - and then Ramires burst through to make it 2-2 and stun the home crowd.

In fact, Chelsea could have won it if David De Gea had not made a superb save from Mata with his right foot just when it seemed the Spanish midfielder was going to make it 3-2.

"I tried to score, I tried," said Mata after the game. "Looking at playing at Old Trafford it could be a good result but we created so many chances and their goalkeeper made some great saves.

"Now we have another chance to win at Stamford Bridge. We have a replay at home and we are strong team at home and we'll try to go through."

United must have thought they had one foot in the Wembley Semi-Finals when they went ahead after only five minutes as Hernandez looped a header over Petr Cech.

It was 2-0 after just eleven minutes when Rooney curled home a superb free-kick; and it looked like United were providing the perfect response after being knocked out of the Champions League in midweek by Real Madrid.

But Chelsea had other ideas as they completed an amazing turnaround to force a replay.

Hazard began it in the 59th minute with a superb curing effort after being put through by Mata and then Ramires took advantage of a burst from Demba Ba to stun United with an equaliser.

A date for the replay has yet to be fixed - Chelsea are in Europa League action on Thursday so cannot play it this week. But the winners will face Manchester City at Wembley in The FA Cup Semi-Finals on either 13 or 14 April.
