Scott Rendell emerged from the bench to produce the shock of the day as Conference side Luton knocked Premier League Norwich out of The FA Cup with Budweiser at Carrow Road.

Luton memorably disposed of Wolves with a 1-0 home win in Round Three but trumped that Cup shock thanks to Rendell’s strike, which came just six minutes after his introduction.

It means Paul Buckle’s side become the first ever Conference side to win away against Premier League opposition - and only the seventh non-League side to reach the Fifth Round in the post-war era.

But the adventure is over for Luton’s Conference rivals Macclesfield, who were beaten narrowly at home by Wigan.

Macclesfield beat Swindon and Cardiff en route to Round Four but could not find a way back into the game after Jordi Gomez’s seventh-minute penalty.

Norwich, however, were not the only Premier League side to suffer Cup heartbreak in their own back yard as QPR were beaten 4-2 by League One MK Dons at Loftus Road.

Harry Redknapp made ten changes to his side and it showed as the visitors scored four goals inside an hour to book their place in the next round before Jay Bothroyd’s and Fabio da Silva saved some face with a couple of late strikes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal avoided an upset at Brighton, who stunned Newcastle in Round Three. But it was not easy for Arsene Wenger’s side, who required an 85th-minute winner from Theo Walcott to wrap up a hard-fought 3-2 win.

Everton also needed a late goal to ensure a victory in their tricky away tie against Championship opposition. Steven Pienaar opened the scoring after 18 minutes against Bolton but Marvin Sordell equalised just before the half-hour.

But when a replay loomed large, substitute John Heitinga found the net after Bolton failed to clear a corner.

There was late, late heartbreak for League Two Aldershot, who looked like they had secured a second shot at Middlesbrough with the scores locked at 1-1 in stoppage time. But Lukas Jutkiewicz scored a last-gasp second to send Boro through.

Elsewhere, Reading cruised into Round Five with a 4-0 win at home against Sheffield United, Blackburn won 3-0 in their all-Championship tie with Derby and Barnsley secured an impressive 1-0 win at Hull.

Huddersfield and Leicester will require a replay after they drew 0-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium.
