Football fans are being given a unique opportunity to decide the fate of Budweiser’s £100,000 ‘Super Grant’.
Eight grassroots clubs are going head-to-head over the next month in a bid to win the funding, which is being backed by FA Cup sponsors Budweiser and The FA, and fans are being encouraged to vote for who they think deserves the cash injection.
Last year, these clubs successfully secured £50,000 as part of the Budweiser ‘Club Futures’ programme, an initiative designed to help improve their facilities.
And more clubs are set to benefit with The FA Cup sponsors set to invest a further £1m directly into grassroots football in the UK over the next two seasons.
Newcastle manager and Budweiser Club Futures ambassador Alan Pardew said: “Having started my career at grassroots level, I know just how hard it is to sustain a local club and can appreciate the importance of a programme like Budweiser 'Club Futures'.
“We had some great applications at the £50,000 stage and had hard decisions to make in choosing the eight winning clubs.
“This is why we thought it best to hand the £100,000 vote over to the fans!”
