Nigel Gibbs admits The FA Cup is one of his favourite competitions, as he looks to help Reading into the Sixth Round.
As one of Brian McDermott’s right-hand men at the Madejski Stadium, Gibbs has played a key role in the Royals’ run to the Fifth Round.
They now travel north to face Manchester United on Monday night and whatever happens at Old Trafford, Gibbs will always be fond of The Cup.
He told FATV: "I always remember the build-up to Cup Final day and I actually went to The Final in 1975 when I went to the West Ham v Fulham match.
"I absolutely loved it at the old Wembley.”
As a player, Gibbs spent his entire career with Watford and also began his coaching pathway at Vicarage Road under current England coach Ray Lewington.
And he has a number of Cup experiences under his belt to draw upon as Reading take on one of the favourites for the competition on FATV's 'Road To Wembley'.
He added: "I never played in a Cup Final but I was in the squad when Watford played Everton in 1984, watching from the stands.
"The result didn't go our way but I enjoyed the build-up and everything that went with it.
“I also experienced the Semi-Final with Watford.
"It's watched by everyone around the world and it's a really great tournament.”
