Bob Mortimer is into his fifth decade of supporting Middlesbrough and is hoping to see another FA Cup run this season.

The comedian teamed up with the Boro squad in 1997, when he recorded an FA Cup Final song for their trip to face Chelsea at Wembley.

And Boro face the Blues again on Wednesday night in the Fifth Round, with a place in the quarter final and a tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford on offer to the winners.

FATV caught up with Mortimer recently to get his thoughts on his love affair with Boro as they prepare to take on the current Cup holders.

He said: "I've been supporting them since I was seven, so that's 44 years now!

"The first match I saw was against Carlisle in the Third Division.”

And as for that Cup Final song, ‘Let’s Dance’ recorded with Chris Rea and the squad, Mortimer still has memories and FATV still has the footage!

He explained: "I was approached by the club and that was a real privilege, meeting all the lads.

"We took them out to do the video, with Bryan Robson and Emerson all involved.”
