The FA Cup with Budweiser
Third Round Qualifying Draw
Ties to be played weekend of Saturday 6 October 2012
Winning club will receive £7,500 from The FA's prize fund
The draw for the Third Round Qualifying of The FA Cup with Budweiser was made at Wembley on Monday.
As well as picking up £7,500 from The FA’s prize fund, the winners will be just one more victory from a place in the First Round Proper when the League 1 and 2 clubs enter the fray.
FC United of Manchester, who reached the First Round two seasons ago and won memorably at Rochdale, were handed a home draw.
They triumphed 3-2 at Salford City with Nicky Platt’s hat-trick in the Second Round Qualifying on Saturday and they will now play Kendal Town.
Kevin Leadbetter also registered a hat-trick for Kendal in their home tie with Witton Albion on Saturday.
Eastbourne Borough, the club that progressed all the way from the Sussex County League to the Conference Premier, were in the First Round for the first time in 2005, holding Oxford United to a 1-1 draw with a last-minute penalty equaliser at Priory Lane.
They now have an attractive home tie with Hendon to look forward to. The Isthmian Leaguers reached the Third Round in the 1970s, losing to Newcastle United in a replay at Watford.
There is an intriguing Kent derby at Dover Athletic, where Bromley are the visitors.
And Maidstone United, who have scored nine goals without reply in their last two ties, travel to East Thurrock United.
