As a small market town in North Yorkshire, Tadcaster is more famous for its breweries than its football teams but this Saturday sees Tadcaster Albion aim to put their name on the map.

The Northern Counties East Football League Premier team take on Conference North side Boston United in the Third Round Qualifying Round and Tadcaster boss Paul Marshall wants his players to "make their own history".

Speaking to TheFA.com, Marshall said: "They're a great group of young lads, who never know when they're beaten.

"We want to provide a big shock for Boston, it's the biggest game for the club."

Marshall himself has fond memories of The FA Cup, reaching the Second Round Proper with Harrogate Railway in the 2002-03 season, when they had a televised game against Bristol City. 

He added: "They're bored of me telling them, but I use it as a motivation to succeed. It will stop me droning on about what I did ten years ago if we can do it for ourselves."

At one point, it seemed the adverse weather conditions may ruin this Cup clash, with the whole of Tadcaster's pitch underwater, but a huge amount of work has ensured it can go ahead.

"The ground is still soft. We've drained the inside of the clubhouse; there's been a tremendous amount of work put in by a lot of volunteers," revealed Marshall.

"Boston will bring a great following, they are an ex-League side and their supporters are very vocal. We usually get a crowd of about 80, but hopefully around 400 will come on Saturday. If they don't come for a game as big as this then they're never going to come!"

Boston United are three tiers above Tadcaster, so they will certainly provide a great test for the Brewers, but with a few of his players working for breweries in the town, Marshall concluded: "Hopefully we'll be able to celebrate with a few beers on Saturday night."
