South Park manager Joe McElligott believes his side can defy the odds once again and progress to The FA Cup First Round Proper against the Met Police.

McElligott’s side have already played eight games to get to the Fourth Round Qualifying stage - as three of their five ties have been decided in replays.

South Park, who are currently third in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, are one of just two Step Five sides left in the tournament alongside Blackfield & Langley.

And, speaking about Saturday's tie against Isthmian Premier League side Met Police, McElligott said: "The Met Police are two steps ahead of us in the pyramid and a number of their players have Football League experience.

"Whereas I haven’t got any players who have Football League experience, as our players have come through grassroots football.

"Our boys will be punching above their weight but we are looking forward to the opportunity."

South Park knocked out Isthmian North division side Brentwood Town 3-1 in their last FA Cup tie, after winning replays against Cobham, Walton & Hersham and Harefield United in previous rounds.

"The boys have done extremely well so far in the competition. We do have the benefit of home advantage and hopefully we will nick it," added McElligott.

"We know it takes an extremely good performance to get a result against an Isthmian Premier League side but we are confident. There’s no reason why we can’t get a result if we put in a good performance on the day."
