Physio and Police Officer Paul Barrowcliff has already had a taste of FA Cup glory as a non-League player himself and is now hoping to see his Met Police club-mates reach the same heights.

The Isthmian Premier Division outfit have home advantage on Wednesday night when they meet Dereham Town to play for a place in the Fourth Round Qualifying and a tie at South Park, who are amongst the lowest ranked clubs still left in the competition.

And after experiencing The FA Cup as a player during his days with the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Stevenage and Sutton, he knows what it will mean to the Police squad should they reach the First Round Proper and a chance to rub shoulders with a League club.

He said: "It's always a good competition to play in, I have a few highlights myself as I scored for Sutton against Notts County and I got knocked out by Birmingham in the Third Round when I was with Stevenage.

"It's a lovely leveller for non-League players to get to the First Round and get to play the pro sides.

"It will be fantastic for us to do that, so fingers crossed we can get through to the next round."

Barrowcliff has been with Met Police as a physio for three seasons now, and he admits it ties in nicely with his day job, as a Police Officer and combines his love for the game too.

He explained: "I joined the Police after I'd finished playing professionally. It was a case, of 'what can I do now?'

"A lot of the people that I was working with as a personal trainer were in the Police and I thought it was good number!"

The first tie between the teams finished in a 1-1 draw at Dereham on Saturday.
