The draw for the Fourth Round Qualifying of The FA Cup with Budweiser has been made at Wembley today.
The 32 ties are scheduled for 20 October and the winners collect £12,500 each from The FA’s prize fund and secure a precious place in the First Round Proper when the League 1 and 2 clubs enter.
The smaller teams left in the competition can now dream of playing the likes of Coventry City, Portsmouth, Preston North End and Sheffield United.
The two ‘Step Five’ sides definitely through to the Fourth Round Qualifying are Blackfield & Langley from the Wessex League and South Park from the Combined Counties League, and they enjoyed mixed fortunes in the draw.
South Park, from just south of Reigate in Surrey, have only lost once in their 17 games this season and they now have a home tie against the winners of Wednesday’s replay in the FATV Road to Wembley game between Metropolitan Police and Dereham Town.
Blackfield & Langley, from the Southampton area, travel to the winners of tonight’s replay between Hitchin Town and Hastings United.
The 24 Conference Premier clubs enter at this stage and Newport County, currently top of the table by two points, have an away tie at Yate Town of the Southern League Division One South & West. Forest Green Rovers, in second place, are at home to Dartford.
Some clubs with a great Cup pedigree will be in Fourth Qualifying Round action. Hereford United, who famously knocked out Newcastle United in the ‘70s, go to FC United Of Manchester, while Woking, conquerors of West Bromwich Albion, entertain Ebbsfleet United.
