Dean Holdsworth has mixed memories of The FA Cup from his playing career, but is hoping his Aldershot players can create their own this weekend by progressing into the Third Round Proper.

The former Wimbledon and Bolton Wanderers striker scored hat-tricks for both clubs in The Cup, but also has the memory of a Semi-Final defeat at Wembley to look back on.

But Holdsworth is now hoping to enjoy The Cup as a manager and admits his team travel north to Fleetwood Town as classic underdogs.

He told FATV: "It's a chance for the underdog to come through and we'll go to Fleetwood as underdogs

"They're a good club, moving in the right direction but we'll go there with a challenge and hopefully my players can dream of playing a Premier League side again.

"The distraction of The FA Cup is welcomed at the moment as we're in a different place in terms of confidence levels than we were a month ago."

And Holdsworth is hoping that his own form in The FA Cup can rub off on his players ahead of the tie with Micky Mellon's side.

"I've always had a good feeling about the Cup competitions," he added.

"I think I scored two or three hat-tricks in The FA Cup, for Wimbledon and for Bolton."
