Watford boss Sean Dyche admits his side will be up against it when they entertain Tottenham on Friday night, but hopes the Hornets enjoy some good fortune to help them progress to the Fifth Round of The FA Cup with Budweiser.
The Vicarage Road outfit defeated Bradford City in Round Three to set up the mouth-watering clash with Spurs, and Dyche knows the size of the task they face in front of the ESPN cameras.
“It’s a very, very tough task, make no mistake,” he said, “but one that the players should relish... a tough task, but one that we’ll enjoy, one that we’ll look forward to and if anyone has that sprinkling of magic dust that would be helpful.
“The reality is they [Tottenham] have some fantastic players and they play lovely, progressive football. We’re under no illusions, but you have to believe in what you do.”
Watford’s best run in this competition came in 1984 when they lost out to Everton in The Final, and while Dyche isn’t planning his journey to Wembley just yet, he is fully aware of the beauty of The FA Cup.
“FA Cup games, FA Cup days – there’s always that real fervour to [them], that feel about [them],” said Dyche, who captained Chesterfield in the Semi-Final in 1997.
“The [Watford] fans know the history of The FA Cup and I believe in it and this club certainly believes in it.”
