Tottenham's assistant manager Kevin Bond insists the club are desperate to reach The FA Cup Final and admits he used to dream about winning the world's oldest cup competition as a child.

The eight-time FA Cup winners face a tricky Fourth Round tie away at Watford on Friday night in a break from their pursuit of the Premier League title.

But Bond believes Spurs would love to win The FA Cup as a tangible reward for their undoubted progress since he joined the club with Harry Redknapp from Portsmouth in October 2008.

"Qualifying for the Champions League was always our number one goal at the start of the season and that remains the case, but with The FA Cup there is a chance to pick some silverware up, and that is hugely important to us," he said.

"As a youngster you didn't dream about finishing in the top four so you could play in the Champions League; you dreamt about winning the league, playing at Wembley and lifting The Cup.

"That's what you wanted to do - that day at Wembley, winning The Cup. You don't get a medal or a trophy for getting into the Champions League.

"It is brilliant [to qualify for the Champions League] for the football club and the supporters. But I can understand that as a player and all of us involved, as well as the supporters, it's a day out and we want to do well in The Cup.

"The club itself has a great history in it. We would love to be there again. It has been a little while since we have been in The FA Cup Final. We would like to go as far as we can."

And Bond says his side will not underestimate the size of their task against a Watford side who are 18th in the Championship under boss Sean Dyche, who succeeded Malky Mackay in the summer.

"We have had them watched, I saw them play personally at Birmingham and they would have been disappointed with the result [a 3-0 defeat]," said Bond.

"They had an exceptional December and have only been beaten once at home since early October.

"They got a good result in The Cup [when they beat Bradford in Round Three] and we have played there ourselves in The Cup a couple of years ago. We are fully aware of how difficult a game it will be for us.

"It is Sean's first job and it's not easy. To get the results he has done, and he has had a couple of periods where he has put a real good run together, he has done very well."
