Chelsea safely negotiated a West London derby to take their place in the last four of The FA Tesco Women's Premier League Cup.

Having cemented third place in the League last week with an away victory over Leeds United, Chelsea went into this match knowing that they were two games from the first Final of the season.

With Fulham the opposition it was always going to be a tight encounter, but Chelsea dominated the chances and were unfortunate not to score inside an opening spell that saw Jess Devoti in the Fulham goal kept busy.

When the goal eventually came, it was Claire Rafferty who was on target to open the scoring with a near-post header after just 20 minutes.

Chelsea continued to search for further goals but it was not until midway through the second-half that Katie Owen grabbed the second from the substitutes bench on her birthday, notching after some fine approach work from Eniola Aluko.

Lianne Sanderson completed the scoring with a fine close-range finish after a teasing cross from Brooke Chaplen.

Chelsea Coach Steve Jones believes that his entire team deserved praise for their display in reaching the Semi-Finals of the League Cup.

He said: "It would be wrong of me to single out individuals, because everyone played their part today.

"It was a real team performance with everyone working for each other and if you were going to mark the girls out of ten, then every player would be eight out of ten."
