Woodford United Ladies boss Danni Grogan was left ‘gutted’ after watching her side suffer a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Brackley Sports in the Preliminary Round of The FA Women’s Cup.

The Daventry-based side held high hopes of progressing in the competition but a poor second-half performance allowed the visitors to complete a comfortable victory.

Trailing by a single goal at the break, Grogan was adamant her side could still salvage the tie, but a series of mistakes and defensive errors allowed Brackley to cruise home.

“I’m absolutely gutted,” said a crestfallen Grogan. “At the break we all believed we could win the game and still get through but we just didn’t do our jobs and they punished us.

“There were too many mistakes and it was just a really poor performance in the end. It’s such a shame because this is The FA Women's Cup and we really wanted to do well.

“We’ll just have to make sure we go and take out our frustration on The League now.”
