Arsenal, Everton and Leeds United have all joined Lincoln City in the semi-finals of the FA Women’s Cup after winning their quarter-final clashes on Sunday.

Arsenal, who have won the trophy in each of the last two years, were ruthless intheir 5-1 defeat of Birmingham Ladies.

The Gunners, who have won all of their 12 league games this season, were simply unstoppable as they crushed their midlands rivals to set up a clash with Lincoln, who are in the Northern Division – one rung below the Premier League – and knocked out Blackburn to qualify for the semi-finals.

Lianne Sanderson scored twice for the Gunners, who also netted through Julie Fleeting, Alex Scott and Karen Carney. Becky Hall had given Birmingham an early lead but Vik Akers’ Arsenal side stormed back to win with ease.

And the other semi-final clash will be between Everton and Leeds after they beat Newcastle and Cardiff 3-1 and 5-1 respectively.

England star Rachel Unitt was the hero for Everton as she scored twice at Newcastle to add to an early goal from Fara Williams, with Rachel Furness pulling a goal back late on for the hosts.

Leeds were also in fine form as they thrashed Cardiff in South Wales to set up the meeting with the Merseysiders.
