The FA Women’s Cup sponsored by E.ON
Second Round Proper
Saturday 22 November 2008
Winning clubs will receive £350 from The FA
Guiseley Ladies have picked up the first 'E.ON Team of the Round Award' of the season.
Guiseley Ladies will be celebrating on Friday 21 November when they are presented with the award, for which they were nominated courtesy of a comfortable 4-1 dismissal of Peterlee in the First Round of The FA Women's Cup.
Having started their FA Women's Cup journey in the First Round Qualifying, Guiseley managed to defeat Peterlee, who play two leagues below the Premier League and are a league above Guiseley.
Considering Guiseley are still winless in the North West Regional Premier League this season, a performance and result of this nature was a superb effort from them. Their 4-1 home win sees them meet Derby County LFC in the Second Round Proper this weekend.
"All credit goes to the players who applied themselves superbly throughout the game," said manager Scott Rogan. "They played some attractive football and showed lots of character and desire to win the game.
"They were rewarded for their hard work and effort with a convincing result and a good solid performance that we can build upon for the next tie against Derby County.
"I would like to thank E.ON for presenting us with this award and for the giving the girls the chance to go to The FA Women’s Cup Final in May."
Guiseley Ladies are currently preparing for their Second Round Proper tie against Derby County LFC.
