Winning clubs will receive £500 from The FA
Blackpool Wren Rovers LFC were recognised for their FA Women’s Cup exploits when they were presented with their prize for picking up The FA Women’s Cup ‘E.ON Team of the Round’ award.
Having defeated Morley Spurs LFC 4-2 away from home in First Round, the Northern Combination side continued their Cup journey with a 3-1 victory over Rochdale AFC Ladies in the Second Round.
The victory was made all the more impressive as Rochdale sit second in the Northern Combination with 18 points from eight games, whereas Rovers sit fourth from bottom with seven points from seven games and had previously been beaten 3-0 by Rochdale in their league meeting earlier in the season.
Manager, Steve Walmsley said: "To win this prestigious award is a fantastic achievement for Blackpool Wren Rovers Ladies FC, and as a proud manager I would like to praise all my players and staff for earning this award, as this goes along way to what we have already achieved here in the last 18 months.
"I would also like to thank E.ON for giving the girls the opportunity to go to The FA Women’s Cup Final in May."
The team now progress to the Third Round Proper where they will travel to Curzon Ashton, of the Premier League Northern Division this weekend.
