Eton Manor were given a second chance in The FA Carlsberg Vase but couldn’t take advantage as they lost 2-0 at home to Erith Town.
Manor had already been beaten 2-0 after extra time by Mauritius Sports in the First Qualifying Round, but were re-instated in the competition after it was found Mauritius had fielded an ineligible player
It handed Kevin Durrrant’s side a tough tie against Kent League high-flyers Erith at Mayesbrook Park and despite an evenly-fought match they couldn’t quite create an upset.
Assistant manager Nick Clark said: “It was good to get a second bite at the cherry and we appreciated the opportunity, but Erith are a good side and good luck to them.
“It was an even game and maybe it could have been different if Danny Clark had scored for us from a one-on-one in the first half.
“It was 0-0 at half-time but then our keeper Nicky Mitchell dropped a corner, Erith go one ahead and then caught us on the break for a second.
“We played well but it’s the story of our season – opposition teams always seem to leave here saying we’re a good side but always having beaten us! Hopefully things will turn around for us soon.”
Elsewhere there was drama at Craik Park where Morpeth Park needed extra-time to beat Thornaby 4-2, while Bethnal Green will be pleased with a 3-1 away victory at Old Woodstock Town.
Causeway United cruised to a 4-0 home victory over Coventry Sphinx while Bewdley Town won 3-0 at Hinckley Downs and AFC Liverpool went down 2-1 at home to Dinnington Town.
