The FA Carlsberg Vase

Five star Bridlington

Bridlington Town hit five away to Scarborough in Vase

Scarborough Athletic 2-5 Bridlington Town
The FA Carlsberg Vase
Second Round Proper
3pm, Saturday 14 November 2009
Winning clubs will receive £1,200 from The FA prize fund

Bridlington Town romped to a 5-2 victory over Scarborough Athletic in an entertaining battle of landlords against tenants in east Yorkshire.

Two second-half strikes from Wayne Wallace sealed landlords Bridlington’s victory over their neighbours, infront of 1,002 supporters at Queensgate.

Bridlington’s victory brings to an end the The FA Vase ambitions of Scarborough - a club formed just two years ago following the winding up of Scarborough FC.

The two clubs, separated by 17 miles of coastline, have shared Bridlington’s ground ever since while enjoying a healthy rivalry in the North East Counties Premier Division.

Both teams have enjoyed strong starts to the league campaigns, with Bridlington looking for revenge in The FA Vase following a 2-1 league defeat to Scarborough just seven days ago.

Nathan Hotte opened the scoring for Bridlington on 19 minutes and the visitors for the day doubled their advantage through forward Craig Burdick on the stroke of half-time.

Ryan Blott pulled a goal back for Scarborough in the 59th minute, only for Bridlington right-back Nathan Hotte to make the score 3-1 two minutes later.

Scarborough striker Craig Hogg pulled another goal back for the hosts on 64 minutes and looked as though he may have ensured a nervy end to the match for Bridlington.

However, Wallace’s goals on 67 and 80 minutes ensured it was Bridlington who progressed to the Third Round Proper.
