Matlock Town triumphed in an epic FA Trophy replay clash in appalling weather conditions on Tuesday night, as they beat Witton Albion 4-3 after extra-time.

Victory earns them a home tie against highly-rated Conference Premier side Kidderminster Harriers.

Assistant manager Mark Haran, who netted when these sides first met and drew 1-1, was the hero of the night as he scored the decisive goal in extra-time.

Ross Hannah’s 25th minute goal and Ben Algar’s effort on the stroke of half-time looked like making it an easy night for Matlock as they went into the break two goals ahead.

But Albion were not out yet and pulled a goal back through Brad Maylett eight minutes into the second half.

Two minutes later and Albion were again two goals behind when they had keeper Joe Clegg sent off for a foul on Hannah. And it was Hannah who scored with the spot-kick as defender Brian Pritchard replaced Clegg in goal.

But even then the ten-men from Witton were not giving up and Steve Foster headed their second goal in the 67th minute.

Three minutes later and it was 3-3 after Peter Heler struck a stunning equaliser from 35 yards out.

Matlock were always favourites going into extra-time with a player over though and eventually made their dominance count in the form of Haran’s six-yard winner.
