Conference North Northwich Victoria are already one of the star teams of this season's FA Cup, having defeated high-flying League One Charlton Athletic in a live televised match in the last round.

And although they will not be favourites when they host League Two Lincoln City this Saturday, Vics are no strangers to this stage of The FA Cup and have every right to fancy their chances of causing another upset against Chris Sutton's Imps.

It is over 30 years since Vics beat three League sides en-route to the Fourth Round, where they lost to Oldham in front of a 30,000 crowd at Manchester City's Maine Road.

And they have a manager in Andy Preece with a good Cup pedigree of his own. He featured in a 1994 giant-killing act as a player for Stockport County when he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 defeat of then Premiership side Queens Park Rangers.

"We weren't expecting to get past Charlton in the last round so it's a fantastic achievement," he said.

"We are underdogs again, but there is a huge incentive to get into the Third Round Proper."

Preece sees the win over Charlton as a bigger achievement than his winning goal for Stockport and added: "When you're a player you are one small part of a big team, but when you're a manager you are responsible for everyone on the pitch.

"Over the last 18 months I watched every League One and Two side. It was 18 months of hard work which culminated in that result against Charlton.

"People come up to me and say the Charlton game was the best they've seen since they have been a Vics supporter. There are even perks for me; someone from Jaguar gave me a car to use for a couple of weeks.

"If we get through, my dream tie would to play Aston Villa as I'm a fan, but you can't look past this round.

"It's going to be really tough and anything now is a bonus for us. Victoria Park will be close to a full house on Saturday, we've just got to make sure we start the game well and keep the dream alive."
