Ian Watmore - Chief Executive
Ian Watmore joined The FA in June 2009 from his post as Permanent Secretary for the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills. Prior to this he was Head of the Prime Minister's Delivery Unit in Number 10, and previously in the Cabinet Office as Government Chief Information Officer.
He joined the Civil Service after 24 years in the IT industry in 2004 from Accenture, where he was UK Managing Director. He holds a degree in mathematics and management studies from Trinity College, Cambridge.
Watmore is also on the Board of the English Institute for Sport, a Lottery and Sport England funded body focused on helping to prepare high performance athletes for the Olympics and other major sporting events.
He is married with four sons and is a lifelong Arsenal supporter. He now lives in the North West and watches Altrincham in the Conference when he is not watching his sons playing in the Cheshire/South Manchester leagues.
Alex Horne - Chief Operating Officer
Alex trained in Coopers and Lybrand as a Chartered Accountant before moving into the business recovery practice. He then spent two years living in Bangkok working on financial restructuring assignments. After two years in the Far East he returned to London to join a Business Regeneration practice, working on a number of business improvement and corporate turnaround assignments.
Alex joined The FA in July 2003, initially on secondment until accepting a permanent role in February 2004.
Sir Trevor Brooking - Director of Football Development
Trevor signed for West Ham United as a professional in 1966, remaining at the club until retiring in 1984. He made 635 appearances, scored 102 goals and won The FA Cup with the club in 1975 and 1980. He played 47 times for England, scoring five goals and featuring in the 1980 European Championship and 1982 World Cup.
Trevor has been particularly well known for his match commentating and summarising for the BBC. He retired as Chairman of Sport England in October 2002 and was a Director of West Ham United before joining The FA as Director of Football Development in January 2004, and oversees the operations of FA Learning.
Jonathan Hall - Director of Football Services
Jonathan joined The FA as its Director of Governance in September 2004, with responsibility for a wide range of matters including discipline, compliance, financial advisory unit, registrations, competitions, refereeing and football administration.
Prior to joining The FA, Jonathan was Secretary and Legal Officer at the Rugby Football Union for just under 5 years where he was directly responsible for legal matters and company secretarial support to the RFU Council and Board as well as overseeing HR matters and the administration of disciplinary arrangements.
Prior to the RFU, Jonathan worked as an in-house lawyer for the sports management IMG and, prior to that, he was a solicitor with the American law firm Baker McKenzie.
Jonathan Hill - Group Commercial Director
Jonathan first worked for The FA across 1994-96 running the commercial side of EURO 96. After a seven-year spell at sports marketing agency IMG running the European Football Division, Jonathan re-joined The FA Group becoming Marketing and Communications Director for the new Wembley Stadium project.
In December 2003, the wheel turned full circle and Jonathan re-joined The FA as Group Commercial Director, responsible for all commercial and broadcast areas. Jonathan started his career in the marketing departments of Thames TV, LWT and then NBC Europe.
Adrian Bevington - Director of Communications
Adrian joined The FA as a press officer in November 1997 and held several positions within the Communications area of the organisation before becoming Head of Media Relations in April 2003.
In addition to managing the media team of the third most quoted organisation in the UK, Adrian has also been responsible for the whole Communications Division since August 2004.
Prior to joining The FA he enjoyed roles including that of trainee reporter with ICI’s company newspaper and Senior Publications Officer at Middlesbrough Football Club. At Boro’ he was responsible for the match day and monthly magazine, several books, while playing a senior role within the club’s PR and press team.
