When watching European football this week you may not have realised that five English teams were in action, although they would not have attracted as much support as the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.
The FA Referee's Secretary Joe Guest has spoke of his delight at the fact that five teams of referees have taken charge of top level football on the continent.
"I am delighted that English referees are being considered for these high profile games in Europe," said Guest. "It really is a tremedous achievement and goes to show the work that has gone into developing the reputations of our referees."
Graham Poll, Glenn Turner, Phil Sharp and Mike Dean were the team responsible for the Champions League between Panathinaikos and Udinese in Athens.
Mike Riley, Dave Babski, Jim Devine and Martin Atkinson were involved in the Champions League tie contested by Inter Milan and Artmedia Bratislava in an empty San Siro on Wednesday evening.
Officiating for the Champions League match between Juventus and Club Brugge in Turin were Rob Styles, Roger East, Peter Kirkup and Chris Foy.
Howard Webb, Dave Bryan, Andy Halliday and Mark Clattenburg took charge of a UEFA Cup tie between Hertha Berlin and RC Lens in the German capital.
While Mark Halsey, Kevin Pike, Gavin Ward and Richard Beeby made the decisions for the UEFA Cup match featuring Halmstads BK v Sampdoria.
