Keith Hill - Regional Manager for Referees, East - welcomed Referees from across East Anglia to the second FAMOA Conference at Abington Hall, Nr. Cambridge on Saturday 1 June 2002.

The day began with Keith welcoming all attendees with their Welcome Pack containing details of all the days presentations on CD-Rom and info on FAMOA together with information on the R.A. Supplies stand which was in attendance.

After being introduced to the day the audience welcomed John Baker, Head of Refereeing who outline the recent developments in the refereeing department and also outlined the minor law changes for 2002/03. John was followed by Roger Vaughan, Regional Manager for the South West whose presentation on 'Fitness' covered all aspects of referee fitness and its' promotion.

Rogers presentation was followed by Ed Stone, Regional Manager for London, whose presentation concentrated on Positioning and Movement. Ed showed the need to get these two aspects right to enhance performance and maintain control. Lunch was then taken on the lawn in front of Abington Hall for those that wished to enjoy the June sunshine.

After an excellent lunch, Keith Hill introduced Alan Wilkie, Regional Manager for the North whose presentation dealt with 'Teamwork' and the need to ensure that the team of officials work closely together in harmony to enhance performance. Keith then welcomed FIFA & Select Group Referee Graham Barber to address the conference.

Graham detailed life as A Select Group Referee and ALL it entails. He showed the commitment required to be successful. Graham also detailed new initiatives at the top which will promote better performance. The Guest speakers were all invited to field questions in an Open Forum at the Conclusion of the day and many issues were dealt with.

It then fell to Keith to sum up the day and to summarise its' content. Keith thanked all the speakers for their time and professionalism. Keith detailed that this was the first of these conferences in the East Region but next year would see the second. All those present expressed their joy at the days content and all said they had learnt something. A great day was had by all
