This spring, The FA will introduce a Skills Programme to provide all 5-11s with a skill set to develop their game, foster lifelong healthy, active lifestyles and to improve the long-term performance of our national game.
This Programme will have a massive short and long-term impact on the nation’s children and football as a whole.
The Programme aims to give 5-11s age appropriate coaching and self-help tools to learn the basics needed to reach their full potential.
Working with a major commercial partner, The FA aims to provide two million children with skills training via a coaching programme and a self-help website over the next three years.
The FA would like to appoint 66 new coaches to assist us with the delivery of this Programme. They will be based in the following regions; Durham, Lancashire, North Riding, Birmingham, Leicester, Essex, Middlesex, Somerset, Hampshire, Dorset, Suffolk and Kent.
The Team Leader will take responsibility for leading and managing a team of FA Skills Programme Coaches ensuring that the team works effectively to deliver The FA Skills Programme in order to enhance and influence the development of 5-11 year old players across the game.
They will be committed to the value of 5–11 year development and in addition they will organise and deliver FA Skills Development Centres, promote the programme through School visits, support 5-11 year olds in Charter Standard Clubs and Girls Centre of Excellence and to carry out essential administrative duties as required.
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Ability to lead and develop a small team
- FA/UEFA Level 2 valid coaching award
- Ability to meet administration duties and deadlines
- Knowledge of appropriate technique and skill development practices
- Ability to create a positive learning environment
- Ability to enthuse and communicate with 5-11 year olds
- Innovative and creative approach to learning
- Ability to manage/prioritise workloads
- Willingness to work unsocial working hours
The successful candidates will be part of a team who organise and deliver Skills Programmes to 5-11 year olds through FA Skills Development Centres and promoting the programme through schools, Charter Standard Clubs and Girls Centres of Excellence.
They will also carry out administrative duties to support the coaching programmes.
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- FA/UEFA Level 2 valid coaching award
- Ability to demonstrate an appropriate technique and skill development practices
- Ability to enthuse and communicate with 5-11 year olds in a positive learning environment
- Energy and enthusiasm and proactive style
- Ability to work on one’s own initiative and plan own workload
- Willingness to work unsocial working hours
Due to the requirements of this role, successful applicants will undergo a screening process that will include an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
