The Independent Football Commission (IFC) has issued its final recommendations to The FA before the Commission makes way for a new Independent Football Ombudsman (IFO).

The FA has given careful consideration to the IFC’s recommendations regarding issues such as child protection, governance, equality and communication processes and welcomes the praise given in many of these areas of work.

The IFO will have a clear remit to receive and adjudicate on complaints from football supporters and participants which have not been resolved by the football authorities. They will also raise any policy issues which have been highlighted by those complaints directly with The FA, the Premier League and the Football League.

The creation of an Ombudsman will maintain a position as the independent and final arbiter of football complaints and will commence work on 1 August. The FA, the Premier League and the Football League continue to be committed to the highest standards of self-regulation that have seen only 26 complaints referred to the IFC since 2001.
