Further to inaccurate media reports over the weekend, The FA would like to clarify that Aston Villa FC have been charged by the Premier League rather than The FA in relation to an alleged illegal approach to Southampton's James Beattie.
This matter falls under Premier League rules and The FA has had no involvement whatsoever.
